Classes in Hindi have been in progress since September 6 (the first day of class at the University of Minnesota). The class meets for 50 minutes, 5 days a week. At Macalaster, the class "meets" in a room in the computation and information technology services office and accesses the classroom at the University of Minnesota via Google Hangouts.
The Department of Asian Languages and Literatures identified two TAs and one webmaster, and they have just started to work. The webmaster would be working on a website to provide more information about the project and also help with online material development. A native speaker of Hindi, a Macalester senior from New Delhi, India, has been hired to work as preceptor for the course. He works with the student to help with materials and conduct language drills.
